Details, Q&A

Flag Season Info

Hurricane Flag Jersey

Where are the games? Falmouth Heights Fields (Central Park), located in the middle of Grand Avenue, Central Park Avenue and Crescent Avenue.

What are we doing for the first day?  The first day will be our preseason, all kids will go through stations and learn the particulars about Flag Football. We want to run a safe and fun program for your child.

What time do I need to be there with my child?  Grades K - 2  at 10:15 AM. Grades 3 - 6  at 9:00 AM. Play begins right away. Be at least five minutes early to get Flag Jersey on your player.

What do we need for the first day?  Cleats, water bottle, proper clothing (shorts and T-Shirt if warm, sweat pants and long sleeve shirt if cold). All kids will receive a Jersey and flags for use during games.

Is there practice required during the week?  No, we will practice 10 - 15 minutes before games on Sunday and As the kids develop and progress we will cut down the practice time and add more to the games.

How long are games?  Season will start at 45 minutes two (22 minute halves). As players develop we will cut practice time down and add minutes to the games, by season end it should be 5 minutes of practice and 55 minutes of game time

How much playing time will me child get?  Lots we are keeping rosters at 6  per team and the format is 4 vs 4 to add lots of scoring and movement on the fields for the kids. Our goal is for them to experience scoring a touchdown, making a interception and pulling a flag (making a tackle). Please note, we are flexible to maximize fun and playing and sometimes play 5 on 5 to keep children busy. We try to rotate players in and out every play if all players on a team are in attendance.

Will we play other towns?  For now no but eventually we may design our league for towns or have a community challenge of schools vs schools, East Falmouth vs North Falmouth, etc… If an out of Town event were to be considered we would approach all parents.  We recognize many of our players are active in other sports and families are busy.

What team is my child on?  We will choose teams after the first Sunday our Flag Program starts.  We try to evaluate players and place children on teams to keep everything competitively fair.  We sometimes trade players on any given Sunday to keep games evenly competitive. Sometimes a team maybe short a players and we adjust teams. Children get excited about switching teams and being traded. It seems harder on parents sometimes then the player.   The schedule of team games will be posted online but will always be the same time bracket.  Our goal is fun and to create equally skilled teams. We get many friendship requests for children to be on the same team. We will do our best but our goal to keep teams equal, competitive and fun comes first.
